
Biography
Otoha Tabata made her solo debut in London aged 10. She has since been performing across the globe and has received international awards including 3rd Prize of Brahms International Viola Competition and Windsor Festival International String Competition. In 2025 she received the Grand Prix Arts and Culture Award from her birthplace Okayama, Japan. Currently she is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Otoha has performed in music festivals including Heidelberger Frühling, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Kronberg Academy “Chamber Music Connects the World”, Verbier Festival, and Seiji Ozawa International Academy. In 2021 she received the “Special Prize of Merit” from Verbier Festival.
She was a member of the internationally acclaimed LGT Young Soloists, and an Academy member of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
At the age of 10 she entered the Yehudi Menuhin School. She graduated the Royal College of Music as a full scholar, with First Class Honors of the Master Degree. During her studies at the RCM she was invited to perform for HRH King Charles III at Clarence House, and for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan during his state visit to the U.K. She has pursued her studies privately with Prof. Nobuko Imai. Otoha had been supported by the Rohm Music Foundation and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan.
